LED is better than xenon, and is the headlight of the future, but is currently only available in top-of-the-line autos at a premium price. I think xenon wins the best overall category when you take the price difference into consideration.
The only difference is in the number of bulbs that are inside of each set of headlights. Xenon headlights are required to use two sets of bulbs just like traditional halogen headlights, while Bi-Xenon headlights need only use a single pair of bulbs. Projector headlights are significantly brighter than reflector headlights. They're less likely to blind other drivers. Because projector headlights are directed downwards towards the road, they don't shine in other drivers' eyes. Projector headlights give off a more even light. Reflector headlights can have darker spots.
Car is a 2010 premium plus with nav. You're describing the self-leveling feature of the headlights. If your headlights actively move side to side to point in the direction that you're turning, you have AFS. If they remain fixed, you don't. I don't know if this is/was available as an option on non-Prestige trim cars.
All Xenons on the Z4 are the bixenon variety, but the pre-facelift used halogen bulbs as "flash to pass" bulbs, the facelift cars simply use the xenon bulb for this purpose too. It is possible to fit HID kits to the halogen lights, if the right car is there but missing Xenons, assuming you have headlight washers I forsee no issues.
